[ARCHIVED] Burlington Fire Department responds to house fire

At 01:39 AM Sunday November 27, 2022, the Burlington Fire Department responded to a report of a possible structure fire at 1001 Chalfant St in Burlington. Firefighters arrived 4 minutes later and found flames coming from the first-floor windows and extending up the exterior of a single-family home. The fire started in the living room in the front of the house. No one was inside the house at the time of ignition. The fire was extinguished by 03:07 AM.

 

The home is owned by Anthony Kienast and occupied by Larry Mills. The home and the contents are not insured. The home sustained heavy fire damage and damage estimates are still being assessed.

 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

 

Twelve Burlington firefighters responded to the call and were assisted by seven West Burlington firefighters responding on automatic aid. Burlington Police, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Deputies, Alliant Energy, and Superior Ambulance also assisted. Firefighters cleared the scene at 04:47 AM. There were no injuries.
