The Burlington Municipal Waterworks will begin replacement of one of the two 30" water mains that deliver all of the drinking water and fire protection on Monday, August 24th. Burlington Municipal Waterworks supplies all the water for the City of Burlington, Des Moines County and reaching into a couple of the surrounding counties. Construction should last approximately 6 weeks.
Through this time, the Burlington Municipal Waterworks would like to ask the publics cooperation of limiting any unnecessary water usage due to the limited flow capacity during this construction. High temperatures are expected for the foreseeable future and it is important to be able to meet the needs for general drinking and household water needs along with water for fire protection. Your cooperation during this period would be much appreciated.
