In May 2015, the City of Burlington submitted to the IDOT an application for a Public Transportation Infrastructure Grant (PTIG). On Tuesday, August 11th, during the IDOT monthly commission meeting being held in Burlington, the Commission approved the city’s grant application. The project is remodeling the space generally called the “The Great Room” at the depot facility at 300 South Main Street in Burlington to improve the facilities for both the current Burlington Urban Service (BUS) and Amtrak passengers utilizing the facility.
Total estimated project costs is $700,000, with the grant covering $480,000, the city $120,000 and a local fund raising effort of $100,000. Attached is a brochure providing more project detail information.
