Department Responsibilities
The City of Burlington Parks and Recreation Department works to enhance the lives of residents and visitors to Burlington by providing high quality park and recreation facilities, fun and safe recreation programs, and environmentally sound services. Recreational Opportunities
Burlington offers a variety of different recreational opportunities, including the award winning sports complex – Burlington Regional Rec Plex. Other amenities include the Dankwardt Pool, disc golf course, Mississippi River boat ramps, bike trails, and the Flint Hills Municipal Golf Course. Recreational programs and activities are offered year round and provide leisure experiences for all ages and abilities.
Parks
Burlington maintains over 200 acres of parks throughout the community. The signature parks include Dankwardt Park, which provides an 18-hole disc golf course, municipal pool, off-leash dog park, playgrounds, ball fields, and a variety of other amenities; and the adjacent Crapo Park includes an arboretum, Lake Starker, walking paths, and wonderful views of the Mississippi River from high above the bluff. Snake Alley, Riverside Park, and the many other parks and sites in the community are also must visit destinations.
